Artwork Description
Carnovsky presents a layered landscape created through the superimposition of three distinct scenes, each revealed through a different colored light. As visitors shift between red, green, and blue, the artwork transforms—inviting both playful discovery and quiet reflection.
Under red light, an urban landscape emerges, blending architectural elements from an Italian city with those of Hong Kong. It brings together the artists’ hometown and the host city, weaving historical heritage with contemporary life into a single, imagined metropolis.
When illuminated in green, the city gives way to open fields and forests. This rural scene stands in sharp contrast to the dense urban environment, offering a pause—an invitation to imagine space, growth, and alternative rhythms of living.
Blue light reveals a marine world filled with ships and vessels. This seascape, shaped by both past and present, symbolically connects East and West, suggesting movement, exchange, and shared histories across water.
Together, these shifting scenes remind us that landscapes are never fixed. Like the cities and environments we inhabit, they are layered, interconnected, and constantly in transformation.
