About the exhibition

Entrance

Wild Togetherland is jointly presented by AIRSIDE GATE33 Gallery and ALAN led by Campaign Director Anita Lam and Curator Match Chen (KaCaMa). Gathering creative voices from Hong Kong, Japan, and Italy, the exhibition imagines a harmonious space where humans and wildlife coexist. Through imaginative and playful multimedia installations set against the backdrop of the urban jungle, Wild Togetherland invites visitors into an engaging journey of discovery—an experience that celebrates empathy, connection, and the joy of shared existence.

Zone 1 - Becoming a Wildlife Resident

Chair that Grows a Tail - Step into the exhibition as a “wildlife resident” with The Chair That Grows a Tail — a playful installation by the Japanese design collective Siro Inc. Visitors are invited to take a seat on uniquely crafted chairs adorned with the tails of animals — from foxes and rattlesnakes to doves and monkeys — that share our urban habitat. In this light‑hearted transformation, audiences are encouraged to momentarily embody the city’s untamed inhabitants and join the joyful celebration of coexistence.

Zone 2 - Wildlife Neighbours in the City
media

RGB Landscape - The Milan‑based artist duo Carnovsky presents RGB Landscape, an immersive installation that brings their signature RGB artworks to life in vivid colour and shifting light. Exploring biodiversity through the dynamic interplay of illumination and shadow, the work invites viewers to follow the traces of animals moving through the urban landscapes of Italy and Hong Kong. Through this playful yet thought‑provoking experience, RGB Landscape reflects on the intricate relationship between humanity and the wildlife that inhabits our cities.

Zone 3 - The power of Balance

A Mobile of Coexistence - Through her interactive installation A Mobile of Coexistence, Hong Kong based artist Alize invites audiences to contemplate the delicate balance of living together. Inspired by the graceful motion of kinetic mobiles, the work takes form as a large‑scale hanging sculpture adorned with pendants of animals and civilization icons. Symbolizing ecological harmony, the mobile’s equilibrium mirrors the interdependence between species in the urban environment. Visitors are invited to take part in constructing this symbolic cityscape—testing whether they, too, can sustain its fragile balance.

Balanced Harmony - Hong Kong–based tech‑art collective The Collective collaborates with visual artist Ruby Maky to present Balanced Harmony, a whimsical kinetic installation reimagined as a merry‑go‑round of coexistence. The artwork features five interactive stations — sky, marine, land, plants, insects, and humans — each representing a vital element of the living world.

Visitors are invited to step onto the beam and test their equilibrium as the carousel begins to move, experiencing firsthand the fragile balance that connects humankind with nature. Balance Harmony reminds us that only through sustaining this equilibrium can our shared world — and all who inhabit it — continue to flourish.

Zone 4 - Law of Nature vs. Law of Humans, who wins?

Urban Animal Fable - Hong Kong creative duo Stickyline presents Urban Animal Fables, a paper‑sculpture installation that reimagines the city’s familiar wild boar. Depicted as a family crossing the street in perfect formation, the work humorously exposes the absurdity of animals conforming to human‑imposed order, prompting reflection on whether wildlife must truly follow our rules to coexist within the city.

Toilet Training - In dialogue with this theme, The Collective’s interactive game Toilet Training invites participants to dodge pigeon droppings using a joystick while seated atop a toilet. This playful yet satirical experience raises a pointed question: when we expect animals to obey the codes of human behaviour, does it reveal care—or simply our own conceit?

Zone 5 - If Animals could Talk

Interspecies Council - Step into the, where every voice—big or small, feathered or furry—has its place at the table. Eleven species from across Hong Kong gather here to share their stories, needs, and challenges, amplifying the voices of nature’s often‑unheard neighbours.

Guided by professional artists, thirty‑eight students from The Harbour School merge art with research to advocate for wildlife. Through thoughtful creativity and hands-on collaboration, they step into the roles— and sometimes the headpieces—of these wildlife neighbours, speaking out on their behalf and envisioning a city where all species are heard.

Zone 6 - Wildlife Neighbour Ambassadors

Wildlife Neighbour Ambassadors - As the exhibition reaches its final chapter, the session turns the spotlight toward the dedication and stories of local advocates and conservation organizations. Here, visitors are invited to pause, to see these lives through a different lens, and to practice a simple yet transformative act — empathy.

Together, we are asked to consider: how might we take the first step toward a world where humanity and all living beings truly coexist in harmony?

Today is Your Lucky Day! - Bird droppings are seen as symbols of "luck" in many cultures. Through a playful random test, visitors are invited to check their luck and receive a blessing and a word of wisdom from “Mr. Mo.”
