BLUTOPIA

THE EXHIBITION

BLUTOPIA is the world's first digital art aquarium. The exhibition blends interactive technologies with art, aiming to bring awe and wonder, and to generate curiosity to engage our visitors to nature.

BLUTOPIA unfolds across two distinct zones: BLUTOPIA ART, a multimedia exhibition and BLUTOPIA EDUCATION, each offering a unique journey into the depths of our shared commitment to a harmonious coexistence with nature.

BLUTOPIA ART

In collaboration with 8 different artists and art groups, The journey divides the ocean into different zones based on the reach of sunlight, drawing inspiration from marine scientific facts. The ocean is divided into zones depending on how far light reaches: Sunlight Zone, Twilight Zone and Deep Ocean, which is divided into three layers: Midnight Zone, the Abyss and the Trenches.

Each zone is inhabited by different types of marine life, thus providing inspiration for our artists. Through an almost utopian artistic approach, BLUTOPIA encourages everyone to take a step closer towards their ideal world.

Sunlight Zone

SYMPHILIA - An award winning mixed reality experience  collaboration between crochet art and mixed reality to create a surreal experience capturing the hearts and minds of a truly diverse, multi-generational audience.

Twilight Zone

COLOURFUL JELLIES - An interactive light installation that transports visitors into the mystical realm of the deep blue sea.

The Abyss

AQUATICS - An immersive and thought-provoking art installation invites participants to embark on a transformative journey into the uncharted depths of the unexplored Abyss.

The Trenches

SONG FROM THE DEEP - Inspired by the intriguing sound bites recorded from the Mariana Trench, the deepest known part of the ocean

HIDDEN - The screens appear blank on the surface mirroring the hidden depths of our oceans.  HIDDEN invites visitors to unveil the vibrant world of BLUTOPIA to embark on a captivating journey to discover these magnificent creatures and their extraordinary habitats.

BLUTOPIA EDUCATION

Beneath the tranquil surface of the deep blue lines a world shrouded in mystery.  The vast expanse of the ocean remains largely uncharted, leaving ample room for discovery and wonder.  While BLUTOPIA ART is an art driven experiential journey, the education hall is by its name, education driven.  It invites visitors to dive into the intriguing realm of marine life, to unearth interesting facts about the underwater world, to meet the passionate marine scientist of Hong Kong and to hidden treasure in the Hong Kong waters.

OCEAN (RE)IMAGINATION - This AI generative artwork draws its inspiration from a scientific project focused on marine biodiversity conducted by The Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS).

BLUTOPIA - As the key visual image for the exhibition, BLUTOPIA is a visionary city that embodies the harmonious coexistence of sea creatures and humans within an urban environment.
